Sony HTCT100 Sound Bar with Sub-Woofer - Black

by Sony (HTCT100)

$399.99 $0
  • 250 Watts (RMS) (50W x 3 + subwoofer 100W)
  • 1080p HDMI Active Intelligence - (3 in/1 out)
  • Digital Cinema Auto Calibration
  • S-Force PRO Front Surround Sound
  • HDMI Repeater
  • customer review: After reading the reviews of various products I decided this was a good fit for me because (a) it doesn't require running a bunch of wires; (b) it consolidates several HDMI devices; (c) price was reasonable. Our room isn't huge so I had hopes that I'd get a good "surround" feel from this, but not so. The sound quality is good, the bass is much better than it was with just TV (Sony KDF-42-WEGA 655) sound, but it's not like having real rear speakers.

  • customer review: Siggy2321 From Ohio,This Boston Acoustics MCS 100 speaker package is an awesome deal and a steal at what is now $199.00. This set -up at circuit city went for $599.00. One day after being at Circuit City they droped the price down to $549.00. I just want to say you are not going to find a set this cheap that has really great sound for the size and the price. Granted the speakers fill my family roon with great sound even though for now I am using a Old Sony 5.1 100 watt receiver. I reccomend the Onkyo Tx-606 series. In my living room, my main room for my home theatre Im using an Onkyo receiver I bought back in 2002, and nothing beats the quality of sound it puts out. Rating each speaker, be carefull how you set the 5 satelite speakers up as not to use bass through these speakers. The speaker are mainly for treble and very low mid range speaker, but the sub-woofer will make up the difference. The center channel puts out really great sound at a low decibel. The sub-woofer does a good job, though it could do a little better job with the high frequencies, it still has enough good bass that sounds good and isnt to clanggy. This is definatly a great starter system or for a small to medium sized room, but once again i have a totally much more exspensive system in my living room. Lastly, they say you get what you pay for, but this isnt the case, you should be charged with theft because this is a steal!!!!!!!!!!! Hope this review helps.

  • customer review: The sound quality of these speakers, when the sound isn't dropped altogether, doesn't quite measure up to the worst portable radio you've ever heard. Even at close range the sound quality and performance was unbearable, and I'm not particularly fussy about sound quality. These speakers aren't worth the price of shipping. Now that I've actually tried them out, I won't be able to get a full refund. Don't waste your money on them!!

They are good if you understand that they are there to sound and make their job, but nothing else, considering their price. A simple couple of stereo speakers with a standard audio plug, and, by the way.. Not very good looking

  • Non-resonant all-MDF enclosure construction with 0.75-inch-thick baffles and internal bracing
  • customer review: The problem with a lot of reviews regarding home audio is that critics compare budget equipment to high dollar equipment (big surprise...high dollar wins).

This sub is a budget line addition to your home theater. If you are low on cash and need a .1 to add to your setup, this is your sub. That being said, this sub is amazing for the price tag. Great bass with no distortion (just don't go nuts with the volume). It suffers at the very low range but what budget sub doesn't. Main problem is the lack of an LFE input.

Here is the solution from Polk: Use the RCA inputs and turn the frequency knob clockwise, this will essentially create and LFE connection.

One unrelated Polk story: I recently moved to Austin, Texas. I had left my Polk audio home theater in Galveston. A prick named Ike came in and flooded my storage, submerging my Polks under sludge. When I got to them I noticed the water line was halfway up the tower speakers.
Hoping beyond hope I brought the smelly mess up to Austin where I took them apart and tried to clean and dry them out. Plugged em in after a few days and they sounded horrible. Sprayed some De-Oxit cleaner on the connections and BAM! They sprung back to life and just played through The Dark Knight with zero distortion. Polk will always be my number one choice in speaker.

Bottom Line: Great sub for the price. If you have a budget-mid range home theater, this is a great addition. If you have a high dollar set up, your probably not looking to purchase this product or reading this review. ;-)

So I got them, saw the cables enclosed, called Sony, was told there isn't a way to attach them to a computer and had to return them. My mistake, but I'm writing the review so no one else makes the same mistake.

Just today I hooked them up with the sony DG920 receiver, and together they sound amazing! No fuzz, no hiss, just pure great sound.
These are about 400-500 dollar speakers elsewhere, and for just over 200 including shipping they are an absolute steal.

    $229.61 $129
  • Product Type - Speaker
  • System Components - 5.1 System
  • Audio Amplifier - Integrated
  • Matrix surround
  • Technical Specifications:
  • customer review: I have enjoyed so far the two months or so of owning this logitech g51. The best thing about logitech is the control panel. I find myself changing the settings a lot with ease. I can also mute the mic or mute the speakers with the convenient buttons located on the control panel. Also, I didn't expect the matrix button to work so well. The gaming button helps a lot while im playing COD 4 & the music button works a LOT better than I thought it would. :D

The worst thing about the logitech g51 is that it has extremely short cables for the rear speakers. I mounted my speakers to the wall & i was barely able to mount them. Since these are surround sound speakers, they should have made them longer! (that's why I gave the g51 a 4/5 stars)

Do not get the g51 if you're planning to mount or put the rear speakers further than about 10 to 12 feet from your computer. (Depending on corners & curve on the cable it can be longer or shorter)

In any case, the sound can get really loud & depending on your sound card, it can sound clear with good quality.

Overall this is a great product, easy to install. It works & sounds great.

  • customer review: I bought a package deal with car and house charger as well as the retractable USB connector. The speakers are nice as they play powered by either USB or 4 AAA batteries. I have had the speakers for less than a week but they will do for average listening. There is no low frequency so they will sound tinney. If you are looking for a Bose surround sound... buy Bose. Otherwise, if you are looking to be headphone free, they are a good buy.

Klipsch Synergy Quintet III Home Theater Speaker System (Set of Five, Black)

  • customer review: These speakers are really solid overall. Living in the city, I didn't want bulky floor speakers but I still wanted big sound and that's exactly how these perform. Paired with an Onkyo SR-705, they really fill the room perfectly. I plan on adding the subwoofer as well to pick up the low end of the range, but even without it, the sound range is great. I'm a bit of a movie buff and these have really made the experience much more complete and enjoyable.

Bose Companion 2 Series II multimedia speaker system

    by BOSE (2 Series II)

    $99.99 $95
  • Designed to provide a clearer and more realistic music/movie/gaming experience
  • Contemporary, elegant appearance
  • Dual inputs for easy connection to computer and additional audio source
  • customer review: First let me say that the variation in reviews for this product are all over the map, but I bought them anyway based on the positive reviews and the Bose name.

The first thing I noticed as other reviewers have was the bass. It was very "boomy" as compared to my old 2.1 Nakamichi speakers w/sub. I toned this down with the equalizer option on Real Audio player, and the sound is very rich. If you don't have an equalizer adjustment on your puter, you may not like the deep bass of these speakers. I have the bass setting set to 0 and it sounds good there.

I did like the extra input jack on the speakers for an MP3 player/Ipod. This is great for folks who have their music libraries on their Ipod and don't want to buy another set of speakers or are tight for space say in a bedroom or dorm.

I only have these speakers 1 week so can't comment on reliability. I would have rated them a 5 if not for the bass issue. If you have an equalizer adjustment on your puter, I would recommend them.

  • Take your Apple iPod anywhere in a rugged water-resistant, protective speaker case
  • Listen through headphones or two dynamic stereo speakers
  • Built-in remote control capability
  • Auxiliary input for external devices
  • customer review: Seems a reasonable price until you open it and realize the plug in AC adaptor is not included, but for an addtional $21 plus shipping and handling they will ship you one. For this simple reason I would not trust this company. You can see in the owners manual where special stickers have been added after the fact to point this out (must have been many complaints). Seems better customer relations would be to just include the inexspesive AC adaptor instead of pasting these stickers all over the owners manual. Also be careful, much added documentation about what IPODs it will not work with!
